Gay or straight, the gay-bar scene in San Diego is up there with the best of the best! The music is always popping, the drinks are strong, and the atmosphere puts a smile on anyone's face, every time. Hillcrest - a small, unincorporated area of San Diego between what we locals call "the hood", and the old-fashioned, vintage-fanatic's city of North Park - is the spot to find the top-rated gay bars in Sunny San Diego.
Bar Pink
This small, yet adorable bar features bubbles painted on the walls (which adds a unique touch to drunken photos), an all pink backlit bar, and a small stage for live music and karaoke. The bartenders are up-to-date and on the ball; ensuring the drinks come up quick and the tabs are opened in a flash! Signature drinks include the "Pink Bubble" shot (bubble vodka, 7-up, and pink lemonade), the "Flirtini" straight from Sex and the City (vodka, pineapple, and champagne), and the "Pink Princess" to keep the ladies happy (raspberry vodka, apple pucker, and pink lemonade). Happy Hour is 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. daily.

Featuring a sexy, gay weekday Happy Hour crew to keep the regulars coming back for more, Urban Mo's serves food and drink. They call themselves a "hetero-friendly gay restaurant that makes the best burgers in town." Who could ask for anything more? This is the spot for the ladies who want to bar hop without being asked out the minute they step in the door - well, by men at least. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. Mo's also offers Saturday night Margarita Madness and Sunday Champagne Brunch. New event line-ups are available weekly on their website.
While not personally classified as a "gay bar", Bourbon Street is in the heart of Hillcrest on Park Blvd and definitely attracts the locals. Happy Hour is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily and features $7 sandwiches, half-off sides, half-off Smirnoff drinks, and half-off all pitchers! Coupons are also available on their website and as far as drafts go; you name it and they pretty much have it.
Gossip Grill
This spot is for the ladies, but the men are always welcome too! It is the girliest of the girly spots, and also serves "comfort foods" to keep the gossip flowing. From vodka to beer, Gossip Grill has it all. The "little sister" to Mo's and Baja Betty's, this location has plenty to live up to and does it well. The Grill features happy hour specials throughout the week, such as Fish Fry Fridays, Bang! Bang! Brunch, Slurpy Saturdays, and during "Sunday School" DJ dance hall, among week-day gatherings to keep the ladies occupied all week long.

And unlike the other epic gay bars San Diego has to offer, a New Year's Eve bash is already in the making and pre-sale tickets are available at their website for another week or so!
