Spooky Drink Recipes to Serve at Your Next Halloween Party!
I can still remember the excitement of watching my mother toss chopped up bits of apples, oranges and pineapple into a large cauldron as she cackled and chanted in her best Wicked Witch of West impersonation. She was preparing for our annual Halloween party and had been in the kitchen working on her concoction for the better part of the day; dicing up the pineapple, slicing up the citrus into thin wheels, pouring equal parts of this and that. But, what had intrigued me most was the smoke that billowed out from her oversized pot. Eventually, my voyeurism was not enough, and I attempted to get a closer look at what mom had been brewing. With a flick of her spoon she ordered me out of the kitchen and I never got a chance to see just how she managed to make fog from punch.
For the longest time I believed my mother to be magic, but I discovered later on in my adult life that mom had simply put dry ice inside the plastic cauldron, which had a smaller punch bowl hidden inside. I actually preferred believing that she was magic. Perhaps, that is the reason why even as adults most of us dress up and celebrate Halloween, because of the thrill that comes in believing magic still exists.
For those of us who are preparing for our own party this Halloween, keep your guests in suspense about your magical powers as you pour them these spooky Happy-Hour favorites:
