100 Montaditos

Taking over the World, One Sandwich at a Time.
Although, the invention of the sandwich has never made its way into any history books, one restaurant, 100 montaditos, just might be the first restaurant to make sandwich history.

Originating in Spain, 100 Montaditos introduced their Euro-faire-sized food to the U.S. in 2011 when they opened the first restaurant in mid-town Miami. Wanting to give the public fast-service without skimping on flavor, 100 Montaditos created an array of small sandwiches filled with world-wide ingredients.
While most amateur sandwich makers are layering meat between soft, cold bread, this Spanish-Concept restaurant serves meats like pulled barbeque pork, smoked salmon, and chorizo on warm, crunchy-crusted, olive-oil-drizzled, fresh-baked bread. As if that wasn't enough, this restaurant also uses a team of gastronomic Research and Development professionals to create new items such as the tortilla española with chipotle aioli, grilled chicken with brava sauce, and the duck mousse with crisp onion to keep taste-buds pleasantly surprised; it is menu items like these that separate the Sunday-sandwich maker from the sandwich-connoisseurs.

Even though a lot of time and expertise goes into creating each of these delectable sandwiches, the price is small in comparison to the big taste. Most of their menu items are $2, and a sampler plate of six montaditos is $8. According to the restaurant's Research and Development team, they expect American consumers to eat about three to five montaditos in one sitting. Therefore, American diners can expect to pay anywhere from $6 to $10 a meal. However, every Wednesday guests can buy a montadito for only $1. That's a lot of tasty food for not a lot of buck.
The pub-like atmosphere of 100 Montaditos, with its flat-screens televising sports and their offerings of five- beer buckets for $10, and you'll be reminded once again that this isn't your standard fast-service joint. Wash down your favorite montaditos with beer and wine menu items such as, Mahou 5 Estrellas, Clara Caña, or Rioja Crianza. Looking to save even more money while dining at 100 Montaditos? Visit them on Fridays when they offer two five-beer buckets for only $10.

So far, 100 Montaditos has planned expansion in Florida where fifteen new outlets will open in Orlando, Gainesville, and Jacksonville in 2012. Hopefully, we will see these small sandwiches make their grand debut throughout the U.S. soon.
